COURSES

Home Health Aide

Our classes required for the program teach the procedures in caring for patients who are homebound, in hospitals, or living in long-term care facilities. Students will learn how to interact with patients and assist them in basic care needs while maintaining patient rights. Students will be prepared to pass Florida state certification after technical school with the abilities to perform CPR, basic first aid, and take vital signs. They will also take courses to be able to advise patients in nutrition and how to prevent infections.
Our classes will teach you the following:

Taking vital signs – Vital sign assessment is a very important skill for anyone in a health profession to learn. Learning Vital Signs is an essential step to learning your curriculum.

Household responsibilities – You will be learning to perform many household jobs like cleaning, laundry, cooking special diets for the patient keeping the patient healthy mentally and physically. You will be taught to deal with patients with infectious diseases, changing the bandages of injured people, and assisting the elderly people who cannot do their work all by themselves.

Basic hygiene – This is another one of the functions of the home health aide that must be learned and perfected early through a home health aide training course.

The work opportunities for home health aides are increasing for different reasons. The patient or the family wants home health aides to provide them all time individual care which is not available at hospitals. This profession is expected to gain more popularity in next few years.

CNAs are not registered nurses, but perform basic medical care for patients, from personal hygiene (bathing, showering, changing undergarments, grooming) to charting body functions, temperature, heart rate, etc. CNA course is the starting point to help you become an LPN or RN in the future. Our classes will teach you the following:

  • Infection control, safety
  • Caring for confused and demented patients
  • Assisting patients with active daily living skills ( grooming, bathing, toileting etc)
  • Vital signs ( Blood pressure, pulse, & respirations)
  • Body mechanics, exercise of patients and mobility concerns
  • Comfort care

CPR Class

CPR (or cardiopulmonary resuscitation) is a combination of rescue breathing (mouth-to-mouth resuscitation) and chest compressions. If someone isn't breathing or circulating blood adequately, CPR can restore circulation of oxygen-rich blood to the brain. Without oxygen, permanent brain damage or death can occur in less than 8 minutes. CPR may be necessary during many different emergencies, including accidents, near-drowning, suffocation, poisoning, smoke inhalation, electrocution injuries, and suspected sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).

90% of your class time is spent practicing on mannequins or participating in real life scenarios. Our instructors are there to help you with technique, answer any questions you might have, and most importantly, customize the class to your unique needs and learn the technique.
